If you live around the area, come and say Hi.

We have made a very rustic xmas tree from a pallet and cut out photo's of some of our current foster kittens and turned them into a xmas tree decoration.

We are calling it a 'KITTEN FOSTER XMAS TREE' AND WHEN YOU DONATE, YOU CAN DECORATE.  WE ARE GOING TO SEE HOW MANY TIMES WE CAN DECORATE THE TREE.  We have about 50 decorations (fosters) although I know we have over 100 in our care at the moment.  8 came into our care yesterday only, so maybe many more by tomorrow.

We require money donations (to cover vet bills as our last years December Vet bill was over $12,000 and January was over $20,000), OR kitten sachets OR kitty litter (you can buy small bags).  We appreciate every single donation at this time.

Yesterday, I personally picked up a two stray kittens and unfortunately one did not make it (despite all our efforts at the vets), but I will plaster a smile on my face tomorrow and face the lovely community and ask for your help so we can get all these mumma and dada cats desexed so this does not happen again.  I named him George and he is the wee kitten in the top of the photo below.  He was sleeping in this photo but went down hill very quickly  RIP wee George.  Your short life was important and valued (estimated at 6 weeks).

The last three photo are off some of the foster kittens that we used for the decorations.

See you all tomorrow.

A battle has erupted between the city and regional councils over the future of Christchurch's drinking water.

The heated dispute was sparked by the decision on Wednesday of an Environment Canterbury (ECan)-appointed commissioner to approve Cloud Ocean Water's plans to extract water from a 186-metre deep bore at its Belfast bottling operation.

That decision, which locked members of the public and their opinions out of the consent process, enraged Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel and city councillor Vicki Buck.

But ECan's chairman says the criticism is "ill-informed" and "off-the-wall".

Council will trial phasing the traffic lights on Bealey Ave so traffic gets a clear run down the length of the street, to reduce noise from things like stopping and accelerating, revving and burn-outs.

Do you think this will stop boy racers from revving loudly? Tell us in the comments below (please write NFP if you don't want your comments published).
