The Spirits Workshop brands Curiosity Gin and Divergence Whisky are the joint brain-children of four former dairy industry workers, Rod Quinn, Bernard May, Sam Toucek and Antony Michalik.
The quartet quit their various management roles at Westland Milk Products in 2016 and took a leap of faith by buying a whisky distillery, with the hope of running their own consumer-led business where they saw a potential gap in the market.
Early gin-making success has allowed both brands to expand, particularly in the past year, with the opening of the Curiosity Gin cocktail bar in Christchurch’s most popular hospitality space, Riverside Market, in November.
The bar offers specially-infused cocktails with five varieties of gin and three kinds of whisky, with various tasting notes and flight cards.
Are you a fan of whisky or gin?

departing to fight the foe. They were joined by many women who had enlisted in the armed forces to serve in support roles. Here, some of the 549 members of the Women's Service Auxiliary march in a street parade. It is April, 1941. Germany has inflicted a series of defeats
on Allied forces in Europe and Japan is preparing for war in the Pacific. Such parades
boosted patriotism, which helped the military recruitment drive and the raising of money for
the war effort through bonds schemes.

I still currently need participants for my PhD study. I am looking for healthy people to come into my office (in Christchurch CBD) for around an hour, on two occasions, to complete some pen and paper activities with me (fun ones according to previous participants!).
Part of what we do, is to recruit healthy participants who match with the patients on age and gender. This is so we can try to rule out any effects differences in these may have on results. So far I haven’t been able to source enough men aged in their 40s to take part.
This is a volunteer opportunity, but you will also receive $50 petrol vouchers as compensation for your time and travel.
If you are interested please email me at the details on the poster (or visit the website listed) rather than commenting here as I will need to send you an information sheet to read over and go through some screening questions
Thanks!

New Zealand is one of McDonald’s top ten beef-producing markets and it’s such a hit with the rest of the world that a significant percentage of NZ’s beef exports are to international McDonald’s markets.
We partner with many Kiwi farmers who produce our beef, including Whangara Farms which was the first beef farm outside of Europe to be invited to the McDonald’s Flagship Farmers programme.
ANZCO Foods, based in the small Taranaki town of Waitara, are responsible for making our 100% beef patties. About 90% of the staff at the Waitara plant are locals and they manage to produce around half a million patties each day.
Our quality beef cuts are minced and that’s it. No additives or fillers, just mince that is formed in patties, before they’re flash-frozen and sent to restaurants.
