Overnight someone jemmied open the side window of my wee van and stole my portable mobility scooter. As you can imagine l am incredibly distressed at losing my transport. The battery was inside charging so It will be of no use to them and l imagine they may dump it so l'd be really grateful if everyone could keep an eye out or if they could let me know if they see it for sale. I live on Gloucester street near Woodham road and the van was parked outside my house. It's an older white Toyota hiace so
I'd also be grateful if anyone who saw anything unusual last night could let me know. Many thanks. I have added a photo of the scooter although the pedals on mine are slightly different.
Have also posted this on the crime page.

Hi neighbours,

Former mental health nurse Jude Ivy gave up working six years ago to dedicate her time to her husband Chris, who was diagnosed with stage four throat cancer and given a year to live.

She looked after him until he died a few months later. Unemployed and alone, Ivy fell into depression, which she had struggled with in the past.

“I stayed strong for him and then when he passed, I collapsed.

“Comedy saved my life,” she said.

The comic has set up her own line-up of comedians, performing at Christchurch’s Austin Club.

“I needed a spark of joy.”

Bromley School wins $10,000 sports grant in AA Insurance's Big Little Sponsorship

Christchurch’s Bromley School is the South Island winner of a $10,000 sports grant in AA Insurance’s Big Little Sponsorship.

Pupils gathered for a reveal party on Tuesday, which started with a pre-recorded video from former All Black Keven Mealamu, AA Insurance’s head of brand and marketing Melodie Vickars, and Eden Park chief eecutive Nick Sautner. The children were then treated to a catered morning tea, and a chance to make their own smoothies on ‘smoothie bikes’.

“What really stood out to our judges was their great sportsmanship, school spirit, and constant sacrifices made by teachers to support sport," Vickars said.

The school is looking to get new sports equipment and organise transportation to sporting events with the grant.

Mealamu, who has been behind the campaign as its ambassador since it began in 2018, is an advocate for kids getting involved in sport from an early age. He noted Bromley’s nominations showed “sport is a high priority at the school to encourage children to be active and participate in activities.”

“It’s good for kids to play sport; they talk to people and learn to work together. They also learn respect for their team-mates and opposition. And they learn that it takes hard work to achieve something worth achieving.

This year the competition was open to all primary schools throughout the North and South Islands, and one lucky teacher from each winning school will be awarded the ‘Ultimate Eden Park Experience’ (at an appropriate time) to acknowledge their commitment.

The competition received more than 3200 nominations from 771 primary schools.

Not only is Insulation a great way at keeping your home warm and energy efficient, but it can also help reduce noise travelling through your home!
The dense structure of Insulation helps absorb both airborne and impact noise throughout the home.

Airborne noise is noise that travels throughout the air, such as traffic, TV noise, dogs barking and voices. Impact noise is vibrations that are carried through the house, such as footsteps, washing machine vibrations etc.

Fiberglass and wool insulation are the best types of insulation for reducing airborne and impact noise due to their many fibrous layers.

You can see our full range of insulation on our website:
