This World Refugee Day, we challenge everyone in New Zealand to join together and take a step to make a difference.
You can take part in the #StepWithRefugees campaign, where participants will collectively walk, run and cycle 1 billion miles - the distance refugees cover each year to reach safety, by adding your steps here: stepwithrefugees.org...
Another option is to volunteer with the New Zealand Red Cross as a Refugee Support Volunteer. Volunteers help families start again, while teaching them about New Zealand culture and connecting them with people from the community.
For anyone based in the Wairarapa, Masterton Neighbourhood Support has a programme called 'WeConnect' that matches new residents from diverse backgrounds including refugees to a local buddy. If you're interested in volunteering or supporting the programme in other ways you can email Masterton Neighbourhood Support Area Coordinator, Cathy Cameron, at: cathy@connectingcommunities.org.nz

"I mean, I ate heavy cream I think 10 weeks past date," says Nash, "and then meat sometimes a good month past its date. It didn't smell bad. Rinse it off, good to go."
It was all part of his year-long experiment to test the limits on food that had passed its expiration date.

My sons are off to Australia with their Shirley Boys High cricket team in September and I am making them raise half the cost of their trip.
$10 per box.
We can deliver 6 boxes or more for free within the Chch area (at a time that suits)
My son's have also made a splitter box to help split the kindling if you want and they are selling these for $10.
Photo 3 shows the splitter block and the last photo shows how much kindling you get if you split just one $10 box.
Kindling can also be picked up from either Burwood or Harewood (Near Bishopdale)
For any elderly people living in the Brighton area (or nearish to Burwood rd) we will happily deliver a single box if that is all you need as we have had a few elderly men and woman whom aren't able to get out and don't require 6 boxes. Would rather drop a box off to you than you be cold.
They have sold a lot to very happy people but still have boxes left.
Price: $10

We also take out and recycle your old heat pumps and bathroom heaters etc. For a little extra time and effort its worth it to be as eco friendly a business as we can and Pip loves getting a treat of a dog biscuit by the eco centres friendly staff. If you are committed to recycling and need any Electrical work done give us a shout for a quote. Sorry Pip doesn't join Patrick on home visits.
