If you or you know of anyone looking for a loving, affectionate, gentle natured cat, please message me. Evie was rescued from the SPCA after the 2010 earthquakes and I don't really want to take her back there. I would love for her to have a home that can give her the love and attention she deserves ... also knowing that she's actually going to be well looked after, not mistreated or abandoned. Evie is about 8 years old, fixed, micro-chipped and recently vaccinated. Again, if you know of anyone who could take her on, please let me know. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 😢

Flood water is receding slightly and rain is expected to reduce significantly overnight. However, there is still significant flooding in the Heathcote river area and the flood waters are expected to rise again at the next high tide at 3.42am tomorrow.

With this in mind, and for safety reasons now that it is dark, we recommend that people who have not yet evacuated remain in their homes, and those that have evacuated do not try to return overnight.

Media Team from Christchurch City Council

2.05pm: Urgent evacuation message: If you live in the upper or lower Heathcote areas, and your home has flooded since the earthquakes, we strongly recommend you need to evacuate now – ahead of the high tide due around 3:15pm. We expect the high tide to cause significant flooding in these areas

This is particularly around Clarendon Terrace, Richardson Terrace, Hunter Terrace, Eastern Terrace, Riverlaw Terrace, Palatine Terrace, Ford Road near Louison Place, Waimea Terrace – but also any other low lying areas around the Heathcote.

You should go immediately to family or friends, or the Civil Defence Centre at Linwood College.

In other areas of the city, if you are feeling anxious or unsafe, please self evacuate.

Please share this message urgently with family and friends.

BREAKING NEWS 1:40PM

SEVERE FLOODING IN CHRISTCHURCH IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE – HEAVIER RAIN MOVING IN.

(PLEASE ‘SHARE’ THE POST – VITAL INFORMATION)

Good afternoon. This is now one of the most severe storms to hit Canterbury & parts of the region continue to be dealt too, with over 150mm recorded in some areas.

Our major concern is Christchurch city, with the ‘Feed zone’ eyeing Christchurch up over the next 6 hours. We could see another staggering 40-50mm in this time frame. Parts of the city are already under water & conditions will only worsen over the next 6 hours. The major concern is the Heathcote River & close surrounds with severe flooding in the area; high tide is around 3:30pm, the worst possible timing.
