The Government has proposed a sweeping fuel-efficient vehicle policy that would make some cars up to $8000 cheaper - while others would be $3000 more expensive.

The "feebate" scheme wouldn't cost the taxpayer anything, instead using money gained by putting a fee on imported high-emissions cars in order to make imported hybrids, electric cars, and other efficient vehicles cheaper with a subsidy.

Dusk to Dawn was held this past Friday, a 8pm to 8am All Youth Party event that started at the Papanui Youth Development Trust. It was even better than it was two years ago. There were 150 youth with 40+ youth leaders and city council staff members all helping out.
A wonderful partnership initiative supported by the Waipapa/Papanui-Innes and Waimāero/Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood community boards, the event again didn't disappoint those that attended. From the excitement of bouncing on trampolines at Mega Air, swimming at Graham Condon to ice skating at Alpine Ice, rock climbing and a few zombies thrown into the mix, there certainly were some exhausted youngsters and staff at the end of the night!
Thankyou for the huge effort all our leaders put in, logistically this is a very challenging event to run and we could not do it without you. Thankyou to PYDT, Northcity and Graham Condon for the use of your fabulous facilities and to our PAC group for coming on board this year and taking the lead in several key areas.

I'd like to personally thank Helen, Stacey, Trevor and Lisa of the CCC and Tom from PYDT for his expertise.

I'm especially impressed with the number of youth leaders that will have done the all nighter then went on to work or play sport that same day

After his brother and partner in the family construction business died by suspected suicide, Chris Hughes wasn't sure what to tell his staff.

The construction sector has one of the highest suicide rates of any sector in New Zealand. Hughes says asking for help went against macho and "tough guy" attitudes in the industry.

He wants to know how we change that.
