It was made from a pair of jeans from an op shop. "All of my gardening clothes come from op shops," she says. "Large men's shirts make good cover-ups to keep sun and insects off my arms. For the apron, start with a smaller size than you would wear so it doesn't wrap around too far. Check that it has a lot of pockets." So after putting up 2 new fatbags today I made a circular "lid" for one out of a bit of lino. The waxeyes can still come in from the side and even hang upside down from the "lid" but the starlings can't hover or fly in from the side. I've left the second fatbag for the starlings.
I guess an old plastic lampshade would do or an old paint tin lid - even cardboard would last for the life of the fatbag. Cheers - John
PS No starlings were harmed - just annoyed!
