Our investigations have shown that ultra violet (UV) light disinfection may be a feasible alternative to chlorine treatment. We are now assessing the costs and benefits of using UV at a number of pump stations.

- as the gardener doesn’t walk on the garden bed, the soil doesn’t become compacted
- the soil will remain light and loose allowing it to hold more air helping the vegetable roots to grow with less effort
- ability to reduce the number of weeds
- if using close plant spacing your raised vegetable garden bed will create a micro-climate which will contain moisture and further discourage weeds.
Fill with compost, mulch, good soil and fertilzer mix.
