As a mostly volunteer led organisation, our members know first hand the value and impact that a single volunteer can make in our communities. Imagine then how much can be achieved when several volunteers or even an entire street or neighbourhood decide to work together to achieve the same goal!
Whether you plan to coordinate your own volunteer driven activity, take part in one that’s already been setup, participate in National Volunteer Week (16-22 June), or simply show your own volunteers some extra love this month, know that every bit of effort to give back is a priceless investment in all of our futures.

My sons are off to Australia with their Shirley Boys High cricket team in September and I am making them raise half the cost of their trip.

We can deliver 6 boxes or more for free within the Chch area (at a time that suits)
My son's have also made a splitter box to help split the kindling if you want and they are selling these for $10.
Photo 3 shows the splitter block and the last photo shows how much kindling you get if you split just one $10 box.
Kindling can also be picked up from either Burwood or Harewood (Near Bishopdale)
They have sold a lot to very happy people but still have boxes left.

The only way we can reduce unnecessary road deaths and injuries is by working together to be safe, considerate and alert on the roads. Tutors are required to have demonstrable knowledge of the subject being taught. For many courses this may be the result of your own particular work experience, formal education and training or self-directed knowledge. Most tutors are not expected to hold a formal teaching qualification. Tutors must have NZ citizenship, residency or a valid NZ work visa.
Our current tutors come from a wide range of backgrounds – they are people who may have a special talent, skills or set of ideas that can be passed on to others. The basic requirements are a love for your subject and a desire to share this expertise and a willingness to learn.

A Christchurch garden centre has apologised for a burnoff that caused a thick blanket of smoke to cover the city.
Oderings Garden Centre on Philpotts Rd, Mairehau, confirmed the smoke was coming from a controlled burnoff on its land.

Oderings Garden Centre on Philpotts Rd, Mairehau, confirmed the smoke was coming from a controlled burnoff on its land.
The haze of smoke was first seen in central Christchurch just before 10am on Tuesday. It was still there at 11.30am.
Oderings marketing manager Pamela Smith said the company had thought it was allowed to burn organic plant material on its site.
"We can only hope that the people of Christchurch can accept our sincere apologies and understand that this was a genuine misunderstanding on our behalf," she said.
Police are appealing to anyone with a dash mounted camera who was travelling on Ryans Road, Pound Road and West Coast Road near the Yaldhurst Road roundabout, Christchurch, between 7am and 7.45am on Friday 24 May.
