We at the Linwood Central Heathcote Community Board and Council want to thank you all for another amazing year with our one-of-a-kind community!
This year’s wins have highlighted the importance of a strong community. These wins include the decision of the site of the Bays Area Skate Park, the Opawa Volunteer Library, the Woolston Community Centre and the amendment to the Christchurch District Plan.
The completion of the fantastic two-kilometre promenade following the Avon River from Christchurch Hospital through to the Margaret Mahy Family Playground has symbolised how far our central ward has come.
The only chapel in the world built to honour nurses killed during 20th century wars was reopened after a complex year-long restoration project.
We are so grateful for all of your support in the community, and we cannot wait to see what 2019 brings for us.
Meri Kirihimete and happy holidays!
From the Waikura (Linwood Central Heathcote) Community Board and the Christchurch City Council

Cutbacks will be made at 60 per cent of the city's pump stations – 40 per cent already have lower doses – reducing the smell and taste of chlorine, particularly for those nearest to wells.
It will also be welcome relief for those with skin conditions such as eczema that are aggravated by the chemical.

Best wishes to all for the festive season. And for this new year to come. May it bring lasting happiness, and relief to those who suffer in so many ways.

Issued by MetService at 01:57 pm Saturday 22 December 2018
Valid until 09:00 pm Saturday 22 December 2018
This watch affects people in the following weather forecast districts:
Christchurch
Canterbury Plains
Canterbury High Country
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to spread north through Canterbury this afternoon and evening. There is a risk that some of these thunderstorms could become SEVERE for a time this afternoon and evening, producing localised downpours of 20 to 30mm per hour, large hail of 15 to 25mm diameter and possibly a small tornado.
Rainfall of this intensity can cause surface flooding, slips and hazardous driving conditions, while large hail can cause damage to crops, orchards, vines and glasshouses and also make driving hazardous. If any tornadoes occur, they will only affect very localised areas.

I have 4 bushes full of currants - if anyone wants them for juice or jam? I’ll be looking to re-home the bushes also (when they’re dormant) if anybody is keen?

Instead of encouraging people to be overly cautious during the silly season, we wanted to share our injury prevention tips in a more interesting way.
Based on the traditional Christmas song we all know and love, we created a video series featuring 12 weird and not so wonderful injuries we saw from last Christmas, and tips on how to avoid them!
Give our 12 Days of ACC Christmas video series a watch. From everyone at ACC we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and happy new year.
