We also offer community education via MoneyMates, where people can talk, share and learn about money.
We provide advocacy services to help negotiate fairer repayment options with creditors. Whether it’s a government department, a bank, or a financial institution, we can advocate on your behalf.
If you need help with insolvency documents or want to understand your consumer rights, our team of Financial Mentors have the expertise to help you improve your situation.
The Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act now requires lenders to implement more stringent lending criteria to ensure that borrowers have the funds to repay their loan.
As a result, lenders are asking for much more detailed information concerning your financial situation.
Our Financial Mentors can help you understand what this means for you, and help you get your paperwork in order.
As lenders will investigate your previous three months’ worth of transactions, through your bank accounts, it is best to come to us well before that so that we can discuss how your spending habits might influence the lender’s decision.
Sharon Grant, Service Manager of BSNC says: “It’s a real privilege to be able to support families to improve their financial wellbeing. I have a sneaky feeling that I was born with a twisted and gaping open mouth! That I came from my mother's womb already upset, irritable and ill at ease. I don't know, but it feels like I felt that way from a very, very early age. I think that I went through life always searching for something that would soothe me and make me feel whole and complete. I felt rage a lot at that time, particularly towards my mother. She was a larger than life woman, a real matriarch, who ruled the home with religious verses like: “Children should be seen and not heard”/.“Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long upon the land that the Lord Thy God has given thee.''

I recall a Rangiora cyclist Findlay Johnson competing in the race mid 1950 to early 1960. He was a gutsy rider, as he had a disability which restricted him to riding with one leg only. Did anyone know him or does he have family still living in the area?
Rangiora was strong in cash cycling for many years. Richard Laskey from Southbrook won the race and recorded fastest time in 1926. I have great photo of him. I would welcome any help anyone can offer, including old programme books, photos, posters etc. Thank you
