There will also be vegan baking, raffles, face painting, tombola, kitten cuddles and more
Pss tried to to an event but would not work, so if you have any questions please ask as the event was a great success last year and enjoyed by all who came. We want to make it better.

This section of the pier column was put under the most stress during the earthquakes, and the damage to the outer concrete and reinforcement has made it more vulnerable to rust and partially reduced its structural strength.
Investigations so far indicate that all the columns have this sort of damage, and over the next year the Council will be heading below sea-level to install new steel and concrete jackets to restore their strength and durability.
New Brighton Pier remains safe to use and is open to the public.

Buses will detour off Opawa Rd onto Ensors Rd and Brougham St back onto Opawa Rd to continue the normal route. Bus stops 325069, 32510, 32421 and 41309 on Opawa Rd and stop 32990 on Garlands Rd will be closed during this time and passengers can use existing stops on either side of the detour instead. Buses travelling towards the city are not affected. View detour map below.
