I'm Jasmine, the Volunteer Coordinator for Dementia Canterbury, and I am seeking more transport volunteers to enable our clients to attend activity groups that make a real difference to their lives. Transport is a huge barrier for our clients, as many have lost their licences and are unable to take public transport. If you have a couple of hours a week or fortnight to spare, I'd love to hear from you! We offer comprehensive training, and our current volunteers say that it's an amazing opportunity to meet really interesting people and make a difference in their lives. The proposed South Express cycleway, which links Templeton to Hagley Park, will turn sections of residential streets into culs-de-sac and also see about 65 trees replaced.
New traffic signals will be added at 11 intersections along the route.
The work is part of the council's $252m major cycleways programme that will see suburbs connected to the central city through 13 separate routes.

All New Zealand police officers will receive new stab- and bullet-proof vests in a $20 million roll-out over the next three-and-a-half years.
The current vests - which were introduced in 2006 - are stab-proof, but special vests are worn by any officers involved in firearms call-outs.
They have passed their warranty, but remain "safe and fit for purpose", says Police Commissioner Mike Bush.

This is a large 16+ piece band featuring saxophones, trumpets, trombones and vocals, supported by a 4-person rhythm section. The Band has a wide repertoire of music from Big Band and jazz standards, show tunes, 50’s rock’n’roll, 60’s and 70’s pop and rock, 80’s disco and into the new millennium.
