Sometimes we get caught up in the Christmas rush, and don’t take time to think about people who may be experiencing a much quieter holiday season. Contact with older people can help families to connect with what Christmas is really about, and it’s a great time to explore memories and think about traditions.
Age Concern New Zealand will posting 5 tips leading up to Christmas on how you can connect with your older neighbours this Holiday Season.
1. Invite your older neighbour to share a meal or a cup of tea
Christmas can be a tough time for older people, especially those who live alone. Invite your older neighbour over for a meal this holiday season. This will give you a chance to build a relationship with them.

Knowing the right immediate action to take can save lives and prevent injury. If you are near the coast and feel a strong earthquake that makes it hard to stand up, or a rolling earthquake that lasts longer than a minute, move immediately to high ground, or as far inland as possible.
The earthquake is your first warning, tsunami waves can arrive within minutes. Do not wait for official advice or warning systems.

She's needing a kidney transplant because of the rarity of her disease she has to travel to the US for treatment and kidney transplant. We are collecting items that will be going into the auction on the 22nd of March being held at the Commodore in Christchurch.
We would love for this auction to be a great success as Maddie needs all the help she can get in order to make it to the US soon!
Some one has donated a beautiful painting on loose canvas. Is there anyone out there that knows how to frame this type of thing?
Does anyone know someone who could frame it at as a donation to the auction? This painting is beautiful and comes with a authentication certificate. We would display the framers name as part of the painting in the auction. A great way to get lots of publicity and future business!
This is for a great cause helping a little girl from Christchurch get a new kidney, and get a chance to live life without sickness.
Please help if you can! Maddie's on facebook and there is a give little set up as well. Please message me if you can help! X Jan

Costs would be $5-10 a session (not for profit, would just cover the costs), and would give you the materials needed to make two projects to take home. Plus hopefully tea and biscuits and a good natter with other creative minded people. :) would be open to all adults and late-teens and would be held most likely on a weekday morning somewhere in Hornby. It's very much just an idea at this stage but I really would love to hear from anyone who'd be into that sort of thing. If it goes ahead I'll post examples of what we would make ahead of time so you know exactly what you're in for :)
