2. Change your cooking habits: Eat fresh veges instead of cooking. Using the oven for an hour a night can add $20 to your monthly power bill.

3. Use curtains to trap heat in: Let the sun heat your home during the day then close your curtains to stop the warmth escaping in the evening.

4. If you’re away, turn the hot water cylinder off: You can save up to $36 on your power bill if you switch your hot water cylinder off while away on weekends.

5. Make the most out of your FREE Hour of Power: Utilise power deals like Electric Kiwi’s free Hour of Power, which gives you one off peak hour of free power a day. Use this hour to heat your home, turn on the dishwasher, or run the washing machine and dryer.

These tips can make a world of difference to a room or small space, budget friendly and with stunning results!

1) Cheer up small places with plants
As we tend to focus on large pieces of furniture like sofas and tables, corners of our homes are often left a little neglected. The solution? Add an array of fresh and different textured plants, big and small. The splash of green looks amazing in any room.

2) Use wallpaper in unexpected places
So long are the days were wallpaper is used on every wall. Instead, be clever and playful with it. Whether wallpaper in a corner of a room, underneath the staircase or inside cupboards – it instantly adds statement to your home.

3) Leave cabinets and shelving space open
Embrace clutter. Open shelving is a fantastic way to display our homeware and means we can actually be more diligent about what we keep.
