I have a 1m Ku band satellite dish to give away, free. You pick up from Bryndwr/Fendalton.
The dish is a much larger version of what a Sky TV dish looks like. Being larger than a Sky dish, it gives more reliable and better quality Satellite TV pictures. It CANNOT be used to get free Sky TV!
A cheap (~$70.00) set top box satellite TV receiver is available on www.ebay.com... or www.aliexpress.com....

We have been able to watch or access over 400 satellite TV channels from all over the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific region in English and many other languages.
Many Satellite TV channels are completely free of any cost or subscriptions. It also provides ALL the New Zealand Freeview channels free of charge from the OPTUS D1 satellite. Also ideal for your caravan or motor home. Watch full TV High Definition (HDTV) ANYWHERE even in NZ terrestrial TV fringe or 'outback' or bush areas.
A satellite TV dish mounting and support bracket is also included free of charge as well as a Ku Band LNB free.
The dish has been out in the weather lately and it'll just need a quickie squirt of surface anti-rust paint but is otherwise perfectly O.K.
With NO obligation to do so, some installation advice is possible though we have no commercial or pecuniary interest in selling or installing dishes. I am/was a satellite DVBS hobbyist.
Regards, Robert.

The South Island's first shopping mall opened on Riccarton Rd in 1965.

Christchurch property manager Reuel Livingstone developed the concept for Riccarton Mall from shopping centres in Australia. His new, self-contained shopping centre included 66 stores and parking for 600 cars. Many property purchases and building additions, and with the new name of Westfield, it is still one of New Zealand's leading malls.

At first, almost surrounded by houses and vacant sections, it now covers the block bounded by Riccarton Rd and Matipo, Maxwell and Rotherham streets.

We don't have a current aerial photo of the mall, but the second photo attached below shows the mall in 2012 and how much the landscape had changed since the 1960s.

Good morning neighbours, an old gem for you...

Around 20,000 people came out to watch the Prince and Princess of Wales do a walkabout in Cathedral Square on April 28, 1983, despite “chilly, intermittent and penetrating rain”, but The Press also wondered if royal tours were approaching their use-by date.

The tone of the paper’s editorial was very different from that struck 30 years earlier, when the Queen toured.

“Rapid communications and travel have removed much of the novelty from Royal appearances in New Zealand,” The Press said. “The charm and interest remain enhanced this time by the presence of the future Queen, Princess Diana, and the baby who could some day be King William V.”

The Press looked into the future: “Before the end of the century Prince Charles can probably expect to be King Charles III. His son, at present in Auckland, may well still be on the throne in the unimaginable world of the year 2050.

“Although New Zealand has not the vigorous republican movement evident in Australia, the question is reasonably asked here whether an hereditary monarch, living 12,000 miles away, will continue to be the most appropriate head of State for New Zealand.”

Despite this, every move was still recorded and star power was very evident, as The Press reported.

“A faint touch of blue shone through the clouds about 10 minutes before the end of the walkabout. It highlighted the Princess’ hair and brought favourable comments from a cluster of young girls.

“Many people were surprised at how tall and slender the Princess is. ‘Her face is thinner than I expected, but much prettier,’ said one woman.

“The glowing natural complexion of the Princess needed little highlight, just a glimmer of gold eye-shadow, a touch of mascara, and a subtle lip-colouring.”
