Reno blogging saved one couple $35k... but it didn't come cheap

I've always thought of reno blogging as a way to document a difficult process in a fun, relatable way. The benefit? Emotional support and maybe advice from folks following your journey - and maybe a little ego bump from showing off your mad wallpapering skills.
If you're lucky, and good, you might be given a couple of cans of paint from your local hardware store, to help you on the way - but that would be the icing on the tip of the social media cake.
Few of us would have the energy or knowhow to turn their reno into a part time side hustle that's both creatively fulfilling, and engaging.
But that's exactly what Moochstyle's Shayden and Georgia Whipps have done - with some pawsome help from their gorgeous dog Frankie. They've been blogging their Christchurch villa reno since they bought their home and Shayden shared their story with us for the final episode of First Rung, our podcast. A first time homeowner and renovator, Shayden is such an inspiring guy to chat with. He makes you want to jump in and give it go. Check out his story and let us know what you think.

Hi Canterbury,

Addington Raceway was a sell-out for the annual New Zealand Trotting Cup, the most prestigious and richest harness racing event in the country.

With the event attracting racegoers around Aotearoa, officials agree that this race has a positive impact on the local economy. On the other side, animal rights activists SAFE states that using horses for sport puts immense pressure on a horse's anatomy and that the sport should not be continued.

Do you think horse racing should be banned?

Residents in a quiet Christchurch street are frustrated at a decision to allow a former rest home to operate as a boarding house.

Erica Lodge, in Papanui, has been granted resource consent to provide accommodation for up to 73 people.

Co-owner Greg Nell said he was pleased with the decision and was looking forward to getting the business going, with the first people expected in April next year.

But neighbour Leanne Ward said she and other residents were disappointed with the decision and had been left with few options to prevent the boardinghouse operation from going ahead.

An expensive judicial review was their only avenue of appeal.

With over 1,000 missions a year in our www.nzflyingdoctors.co.nz... '|flying intensive care unit|’, we need your help to raise $175,000 for our sickest and most vulnerable patients.

The www.nzflyingdoctors.co.nz... |New Zealand Flying Doctors| are only partly government funded, and it is only with the kindness and generosity of the community that we can continue to deliver this life-saving service. With mission numbers increasing each year, the need is greater than ever before.

Today we are asking you to support missions for neonatal and paediatric patients - with over 70 missions a year for children under 15 years of age, we are focused on getting each and every one of them the right medical care.

Your contribution will help save the lives of New Zealand children!
