This was arising from a strong wind causing serious (major) damage to her motor vehicle when parked near to a road works (a Christchurch, street) signage. Although the Council staff have indicated having no liability for these types of incidents, believe have appropriate indemnity insurance to cover these particular (and often quite regular) accidents. Would be interesting to learn if anyone else has been confronted with a similar issue.

What's your opinion on dog-friendly businesses?

The number of dog friendly businesses in the Canterbury region are on the rise with over 30 cafes allowing dog owners to dine with their canines.

The decision is the business owner’s rather than council's, and the only requirement is dogs must be at least three metres away from the kitchen.

You can find the full list of dog-friendly businesses by clicking 'Read more'.

Share your thoughts (and other businesses we haven't listed) below and please write NFP if you don't want your comment featured in the Northern Outlook.

I'm certain I've seen something like this here in Aotearoa-NZ, but can't for the life of me recall where. It was in the back of the medicine cupboard. Let us know if you've seen, had - or have - one in your home.

Epidemiologist Dr Michael Baker said the next six months would be a “very dangerous” time for the country with a high risk of an outbreak while waiting for the vaccine roll-out in April.
