I just want to send out a shout out to the folk who organise and run the St John's Health Shuttle in North Canterbury. I'm in my forties and due to a heart condition have been unable to drive for three months. The Health shuttle has been a wonderful service with great volunteers I have been able to fall back on when friends have been unavailable to get me to medical appointments. They go above and beyond with door to door service (so no parking hassles) one way or both directions as needed, from Amberley south to Christchurch and everywhere in between. I have used them to get to radiology appointments as well as hospital appointments and they will take people to local appointments too; they also do post-hospital stay pick-ups. I have observed volunteers actually take passengers into their appointments in wheelchairs (as appropriate) to ensure safe handover to medical staff and to ensure the best care for passengers. In return they just ask for a donation to contribute towards petrol but this does not need to be paid on the day of use if you are financially challenged or using them frequently. You book by 2pm the previous day needed through North Canterbury Citizen's Advice Bureau but would recommend you book earlier as there are limited seats and they only run if they have bookings. Depending on passengers' appointments there may be waiting time but the one time this happened to me meant having a coffee at South City and getting some shopping done while there, so no great hardship. It would be great to think the word of this service could be spread so please share this post with friends and family.

Going for a walk this weekend? It's worth noting Travis Wetland walk is partially closed due to construction of a new footbridge. It's expected to reopen mid-late February 2018. The good news is there's no shortage of walks to choose from. You can find them all online: ccc.govt.nz...

Below are a few things you can do to protect your data:
Change your password – yes, we know it’s easier to have one password for everything and keep it for years and years. But this also makes it easier for someone else to guess your password too.
Make your passwords long and strong, avoid basing them on obvious information such as family names or birthdays, and have a unique password for each online account. You could also use a password manager, which means that you only have to remember one (really good) password.
Also, keep your passwords to yourself.
Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) – 2FA is an extra layer of protection on top of your password (for example you have to enter both a password and a code in order to access your account). With 2FA in place, if an attacker knows your password - they still can’t get into your account.
You can use 2FA for extra security on most of your accounts, from email to social media, online banking and shopping. You can also use it to access your laptops, tablets, smartphones and some game consoles. Everyone does 2FA slightly differently. To set it up, start by looking under your account settings.
Update your operating system – because this is your main line of defence against hackers and scammers. Just keeping it up to date will protect you against most of the latest bugs and viruses. You can set your system preferences to update automatically – how easy is that?
Check your privacy settings – so that you know exactly who can see what you post on social media. Think before you share personal information, as hackers can use this information to access your personal accounts or steal your identity.
