Hi everyone,

Today (Sun 30th Aug) at around 2pm my 10yr old son was at Thompson Park skate park with his nana riding his new scooter that he got for his birthday.

2 older boys who he think were early teens asked to ride it and ended up running off with it.

His nana was unaware as she was also watching his smaller cousin at the time but realised when he came to her quite devastated.

I spent a few hrs driving around Brighton but we didn't see it again.

If your son turns up home with a new looking green scooter (MGP VX9 PRO) that they didn't have before today it may be my son's.

Its a long shot but I had a 10yr old crying himself to sleep tonight. He has learning difficulties and is just really trusting so this is a tough lesson for him.

Scooter looks like the one attached.

Thanks everyone. May be a good thing I didn't find the kids yo be honest....

Plans for three footbridges going into the Christchurch river red zone have been reworked after complaints the original concepts lacked local flavour and would not blend into the environment.

The three structures, worth $13.7 million, will be part of the green spine, a network of trails and green areas that hug the banks of the river between the city centre and New Brighton. Funding will come from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeals Trust.

They were originally going to be white bridges with concrete pads, but Christchurch City Council has changed the plans after receiving feedback from 91 people or groups.

The most common complaints were about the bridges being white because it does not blend into the environment, and concerns about a lack of cultural identity or local flavour.

New Brighton residents are fed up at negotiating flooded roads almost 10 years after the earthquakes devastated the area.

Christchurch City Council says until some money can be found to replace the infrastructure, there is no easy way to prevent the flooding.

New Brighton Rd and other streets close to the Avon River flood even when it hasn’t been raining. All it takes is a fairly decent high tide before water is forced back up through stormwater pipes originally designed to drain water away.

Have you been affected by flooding roads in your area? More here.
