Tsunami Siren Test,Sunday 29 September, 11am
The sirens, which are located along the coastline between Brooklands and Taylors Mistake, will sound for up to three minutes as part of a bi-annual exercise that checks they are operating correctly. People should not be alarmed to hear the sirens going off and don’t need to evacuate. This is a routine test of the siren warning system and good reminder to people in coastal and riverside areas that they should have an evacuation plan in place, so that everyone in the family knows what to do and where to go if there is a tsunami evacuation.

Canterbury drivers overestimate their ability and think other road users are the problem, new research shows.
A total of 1460 people from Kaikōura to Waitaki, including 497 from Christchurch, completed an online survey about their driving habits.
Findings showed 42 per cent rated their own driving ability as above average. The same group considered 73 per cent of other drivers to be only average drivers.

Throughout the night you could have the chance to win one of twelve bags. All it will take is your number to be called (you will get one when you arrive at the door) and correctly answering three simple questions.
The event is an R18 evening as a cash bar will be available. Food will also be available from some great food vendors.
A great raffle and some awesome auction items will be up for grabs also.
This will be a St John charity ambassador led evening with all proceeds going directly to St John to help with the great work they do as first responders and within the community.
