Our point of difference - We are a Christ-Centred, student oriented school. Our ‘Why’ is to offer families a holistic education for their children, focusing on Character, Excellence and Service – for the glory of God.

Middleton Grange School provides a first-rate general education with academic results of the highest quality, and we do this by providing an environment in which the Biblical truths of Jesus Christ are taught and lived.

We see learning as holistic; it aims to instruct the mind, shape the heart and prepare the hands for service.

We want our young people to critically engage in the rapidly changing society and culture that they live in, in order to be a positive influence and to point others to God by their example.

How Addictive Eaters Anonymous works

Members of Addictive Eaters Anonymous (AEA) achieve sobriety by sharing their experience, strength and hope with each other and living the Twelve Step programme of recovery as a way of life. By regular attendance at AEA meetings, getting a sponsor, working the steps, keeping in contact with sober members, and carrying the message of recovery to the still suffering addictive eater, members are freed from addictive eating and the obsession with food.

Newcomers sometimes struggle to understand how AEA works. There are no rules and no one appears to be in charge. No one seems to tell anyone else what to do. This is because AEA members simply share what has worked for them. They are guided by the the Twelve Traditions of Addictive Eaters Anonymous. Members have found from their own experience that change must come from within and cannot be forced upon another person. At the heart of the AEA programme is the spiritual concept of surrender. When a newcomer is ready and asks a member for help, the following suggestions are generally made to them:

From reporter Tina Law:

KiwiRail is putting communities at risk by causing delays to work on cycleways across Christchurch, a city councillor warns.

The state-owned enterprise tasked with managing the country’s rail network is being blamed by the Christchurch City Council for delays on at least four cycleway projects – all of which were supposed to be fast-tracked thanks to Government shovel-ready funding.

The proposed cycleway routes either cross or run parallel to KiwiRail’s tracks, therefore design changes are needed to make it safer for cyclists.

However, the design work requires approval from KiwiRail, and in many cases these have not been forthcoming or KiwiRail and the council disagree about the level of work that is required. Read the full story here.
