Poll: Should 16-year-olds be allowed to vote?

Neighbourly.co.nz

The Greens have announced support for voting at 16.

Green party co-leader James Shaw said he saw "switched on" young people demanding to be heard by politicians. They were desperately unhappy about the decisions political leaders were making about their futures.

Greg Lang is standing for Mayor but knows he only has a limited chance for election so he is organizing events where he controls which candidates are invited to speak. He selects those who support his nomination or those who he thinks he can work with if elected and does not invite candidates at large thereby not giving them an equal opportunity to speak at his events. This is undermining democracy which calls for equal rights to speak at a meet the candidates event for all standing candidates. My mind says that if Greg Lang will do this while trying to get elected what level will he sink to if he gets in and therefore I make you all aware of what he is up to.
I also believe that I must question the motives of those who were invited and spoke at the event, to date I believe I have identified Rebecca Vergunst and Russell Keys and place them in the same category as Greg Lang, unfit to stand for the offices they hope to achieve . If I find I am wrong and they did not participate I will apologize and let you know but I am also looking to identify others who I understand did take part in the event. This sort of underhanded activity is to be stopped before these people gain control of our town, there is enough bad will already.
