New seasons at the market tomorrow

Marty Sebire from Carterton Farmers' Market

Tomorrow, Sunday, spells the first day of the silly season, but also the first day of summer. And with these longer, warmer days most summer crops should be in the ground enjoying the heat. For me it's always a race against time, what from my garden is going to be ready to eat by Christmas.

Tomorrow, Sunday, spells the first day of the silly season, but also the first day of summer. And with these longer, warmer days most summer crops should be in the ground enjoying the heat. For me it's always a race against time, what from my garden is going to be ready to eat by Christmas.

Local Growers this week has the start of the summer cucumbers, and some early new season potatoes. These potatoes were saved from Audrey's crop last year, planted in September, and hand harvested yesterday. In all ways local!

Other spray-free compost-grown produce includes avocados, bay leaves, beetroot, broadbeans, broccoli, carrots, garlic scapes, hazelnuts, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, mizuna, NZ spinach, pumpkin, radishes, rocket, silverbeet, sorrel, rhubarb, and turnips.

Julie Winder will be there selling her Greytown Gold olive oil, as well as lemons and limes. She has a special on her hazelnuts running up to Christmas, at only $6 per 500g or $10 per kg. She also has dukkah, dried feijoa and roasted hazelnuts. Cotton garden ties, ideal for tieing up tomatoes and climbers, are $2.50 per ball, money being raised for the Wairarapa Treecrops Assoc.

Keep an eye out for Fionna Hill’s 2020 NZ Gardeners’ Diary “Through the Seasons”, on the Local Growers stall. Normally retailing at $16.99, Carterton Farmer’s Market special $15.00. Ideal Christmas gift for a gardener who has everything.

Helen's Honey will not be here this week but her honey will. Look for the table next to Garden for Life.

Other stall this week include:

Coffee On the Go
Adrianne's Crafts
Elwin Farm
Garden for Life
Hensons Gardens
Steve Wyllie's Food Forest Plants

With showers on the horizon for next week get out and enjoy the sunshine with a leisurely stroll down to the Carterton Farmers Market. Open every Sunday from 9.00am to 12.30pm in Memorial Square. It will be great to see you there.

Check out the very popular $7 (250g) options, which are in demand for gift packs (both individual and for clients) plus the family-friendly $20 pack (1L). Some pottles have been heated gently to become liquid and easy-pour; while others have been left to firm up for non-sticky easy-use. The boys are delighted with the generous compliments on the flavour of this honey. Try some . . . and check out the story behind this hard-working bunch of boys!

Bought these brand new before we shifted from Wellington to our Masterton homestead and then found they were a bit short for our family and formal lounges or guestroom. So never used, immaculate condition and beautifully box-pleated and lined.

Measurements are close to but not utterly exact as it's hard to precisely measure already-made-up drapes.
3 x 2050 length x 1100 wide
1 x 2050 length x 1420 wide
1 x 2050 length x 1930 wide
1 x 2050 length x 1460 wide

The photos show the slight satin sheen plus width of the two-tone stripes plus the lovely box-pleats and the immaculate cotton lining. We have something similar hanging in our formal lounge so if you'd like to view please contact me on 0274-579-480.

Keen to sell fast as we're renovating and need to clear out cupboards.

Cheers

Jane

We will be completing this repair tonight between 11pm-3am, this will involve water being shut off. Water is expected to be back on at 3am, however if there are any delays we will notify Wellington City Council who will share this information on their social channels.

Noise will be minimal, and affected businesses/residents have been informed.

Full traffic flow will be maintained through the intersection, with existing traffic management in place due to the closed shoulder on the Northern Western corner of the Dixon/Willis Street intersection.
