Mōrena kiritata,

A Manawatū care worker, who didn't want to be named over fear of losing her job, said home care workers were not being provided masks and were being abused by patients for the lack of precautions.

She and her colleagues visited up to 20 vulnerable patients a day. They were deeply afraid of spreading the virus.

Some patients told her they would have refused to let her in were they not so dependent on her help and some workers were refusing to work until they have the proper protective gear they need to keep themselves and their patients safe.

Home care workers are stuck between wanting to help and do their jobs and being afraid to spread the virus, should they buy their own equipment or be supplied? What are your thoughts?

With everyone staying home, it’s now more important than ever for everyone to be fire-safe. People can find information on our website - fireandemergency.nz...

We’re heading into winter, and with households self-isolating together, there’ll be more cooking at home, and more use of open fires, heaters, and dryers - all things which can increase fire risk.

New Zealanders can be confident that Fire and Emergency is well-prepared and ready to respond to emergencies as usual during the nationwide self- isolation period.

Please call 111 if you have a fire, we will ask you whether anyone at the address is self-isolating or has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Where this is the case, we already have necessary measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including protective clothing, gloves, masks, safety glasses and mask.

Well now you can - live, in your living room.

The Neighbourly team is super grateful to our friends at Royal New Zealand Ballet for their support over the years - so we're excited to be telling our Neighbourly members about their very special event: Live in your Living Room.

This weekend, grab a cuppa and some gingerbread and venture in to the dark, fantastical realm of Hansel & Gretel. Inspired by the old-fashioned magic of silent movies and music hall vaudeville, this ballet will transport you to a magical world with large-scale cinematic effects, world premiere choreography by Loughlan Prior and a specially commissioned score by Claire Cowan.

Live in your Living Room. This curated series of productions from the RNZB archive will be broadcast weekly on Facebook Premiere.

Enjoy performances at Friday 3 April at 7.30pm; Saturday 4 April at 1.30pm and Sunday 5 April at 10.30am.

My brothers hooked up Mum's old ironing board to the back of Dad's tractor and drove round and round an empty paddock for hours on end. Of course this was decades before OSH when kids could make their own fun. They had a wonderful time and could only drive the tractor fairy slow or the 'rider; would fall off the ironing board. I never tried it because I was a girl and girls weren't allowed to do things like that.

Dear Neighbors. As we start our new normal for the next few weeks I wish you all the best.

For those that are following my story I would like to publicly share the latest bullying move from the Manawatu Council.

A supporter of mine, who wrote to try an offer an olive branch to MDC received a response from Michael Ford that they see the issue differently.

Which issue is this?
That a recycling center - a commercial activity was placed on my fence with no resource consents.
That it affected my mental health so badly they had to move the glass (wrote that they would move the lot).
That Building inspector Tony Kellerman jumped over my locked gate went all around my property opening doors and inside a building where I have my personal belongings. This was unlawful according to Building Act S226. When inspecting a home unit, this includes land and group of buildings, the inspector must show his identification and have permission from the home owner or a court order. He had neither.
I was then issued a Notice to Fix (unattainable conditions so basically an eviction notice)

19th of March I wrote to Mayor Helen Worboys and Michael Ford requesting their view of the issue. I received no response from either person.

I did though receive a letter dated 19th of March (the same day) regarding my swimming pool. This is FOUR MONTHS after Tony Kellerman inspected my property, even mentioning the pool. As my pool is over 1.2m high it does not need a fence, the pool ladder was up and there was nothing around the edge to get up on. We are going into winter - swimming time is over!

To receive this letter now, at this time of uncertainty, shows the level of bullying and abuse of power of MDC. While they are not held accountable for their actions, they have plenty of ratepayer $$ to spend on $500 an hour lawyers to try and make me homeless. All I can do is publicly share the ongoing bullying of MDC.

Thank you dear Neighbors for your ongoing support.
