In conjunction with SI San Diego (one of our Friendship Links) SI North Shore are providing an ‘Educate to Lead Award’ to a woman who is the primary financial carer for her family. The award will give some financial support to help further her education skills and employment prospects in the future. The recipient may use the funds provided in any way which directly supports her costs to support her to attain higher education skills or a formal qualification. This may include but is not restricted to fees, books, transport or tuition. So that the recipient is able to focus on her studies rather than the challenge of finding the costs involved. Saturday is International Observe the Moon Night and to mark the occasion, a historic telescope used during some of the first human missions to the moon will be open to the public at Auckland's Stardome Observatory and Planetarium (670 Manukau Road, Epsom).
The EWB Zeiss telescope was used to manually track Apollo missions when Houston didn't have radio contact with its spacecraft and astronauts.
The public are invited to use the telescope to view the moon on Saturday until 10.30pm at the stardome at 670 Manukau Road, Epsom.
“It will be five days after the new moon, so looking up from the Southern Hemisphere, we will easily be able locate the various maria, or seas, on the eastern half of the near-side of the moon. These are the Sea of Serenity, Sea of Tranquillity, Sea of Crises, Sea of Fecundity, and Sea of Nectar,” Stardome telescope operator Daley Panthagani said.
Entry costs $2 per adult and $1 per child. The Stardome will also be putting on educational shows about the moon for additional fees. For more info visit www.stardome.org.nz...

Planning took place over the previous six weeks where … View moreSix of our NZQA Diploma Cookery students signed up for the New Zealand Hospitality Championships – previously known as the Culinary Fare run by the New Zealand Chefs Association at the recent Hospitality Hui held on on September 19, 2022.
Planning took place over the previous six weeks where the students formulated their dish concepts. Practical cooking sessions enabled them to test and try out their culinary ideas and refine their dishes.
These efforts were boosted by the reflections of our Head Chef Finn Gybel and his stories of when he had competed in Denmark nearly 20 years ago. Back then, our Chef Finn was sous chef to René Redzepi, now rated as one of the great chefs of the world.
As a result, we won 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

Downstairs is currently configured as 2 Large furnished bedrooms with ranch sliders to a big spacious deck and living space between the bedrooms, full bath room, laundry, fridge and space for basic food prep with toaster oven, kettle etc and access to large family kitchen upstairs as needed with the goal to have a mostly self contained area over the next month if the whole suite is rented, alternatively as our great tenant is leaving for overseas the other option is to re rent bedroom to help with mortgage. There is a lovely outdoor large covered deck directly onto back yard with dinning table. The ground level is Light and bright with ranchsliders to the outside from all rooms. Minutes to rothesay bay, browns bay beaches and easy access to bus routes to albany, takapuna and the city. A great space if you enjoy outdoor space and growing your own veges with raised garden beds and a small hydroponic system. We have had amazing flatemates so far. Our ome is 3 levels, we reside upstairs with our small friendly resue dog . We are looking for a professional person, or couple and would possibly consider a single parent that may benifit from a space to accomodate a child in a coparenting situation as I know it can be challenging when in this situation.
