A Controlled Area Notice also applies to areas (not just tracks) of the Hunua Ranges. Theses notices have been declared under Section 131 of the Biosecurity Act 1993.
Visitors into the Waitākere and Hunua Ranges have to scrub all visible soil from footwear and equipment and use all cleaning stations along the tracks as per instructions.
*Note, tracks may be under video surveillance.

The forested areas of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park are closed from 1 May 2018, with some exceptions.
Closures will help protect the Waitākere Ranges from kauri dieback disease.
