How to deal with neighbourhood disputes

Jo Haywood Reporter from Homed

Hey neighbours, most of us are lucky enough to get on with the people we live next door to, but what can you do if you don't?

We asked some experts how to stop minor irritations turning into something more serious, and who you can you turn to if things start to get out of hand - because being better neighbours can only have a positive impact on the quality of our communities, and who wouldn't want that :)

Bring a torch, explore the darkened galleries - a fun night-time adventure for the whole family this school holidays!

Suffer a sailor’s life on-board, as we navigate the southern oceans with Cook and company. It’s going to be all hands-on deck as you learn how to behave in His Majesty’s Royal Navy – avoid the dreaded cat o’ nine tails and sample some questionable 19th-century naval food.

Have you got what it takes? Well, let’s batten down the hatches and join in the fun in this overboard quest.

This event sells out, so book your tickets now to avoid missing out.

The realigned track is the first bush track to reopen after being upgraded to prevent kauri dieback disease, and part of the Kaipātiki Local Board's efforts to provide new and alternative tracks away from kauri trees in our parks.
A report is coming to the September Local Board meeting seeking approval for a number of other track changes in our parks. For Kauri Glen Reserve, this will include several other realignments, including a 16m high elevated treetop boardwalk! It will also include a proposal to temporarily close the paths to/from Raymond Tce and Tui Glen Rd until those tracks can be brought up to dieback-preventative standard.

Introducing Shore Action candidate and current member of the Kaipātiki Local Board, Anne-Elise Smithson!

"Kia ora tātou. My focus on your Board has been driving greater protection of our natural environment. Kaipātiki is now leading the way for Auckland Council.
I’m passionate about making Kaipātiki an even better place to live, work and play. I’m for vibrant town centres that reflect our heritage and our diversity, the development of a new coastal walkway to provide unparalleled access to our coastline, enhanced parks and pest-free reserves, and supporting local businesses.
I believe it is the small things that count – whether that’s shade sails over our playgrounds to protect our children from the sun or listening to you and taking action locally.
I'm for involving people in the decisions that affect them most so that Auckland takes local knowledge into account."

Shore Action is standing 6 strong members for the Kaipātiki Local Board and we'll be profiling them here over the next week. Stay tuned to meet the rest of our team.
