We usually hold Community Forums at our boardroom in Glenfield, but we're trialling moving them around the local board area, starting with Birkdale.

Does anyone want a hand turning their garden waste into compost? I charge an hourly rate but am very fast. It's amazing how quickly a huge pile of branches and weeds can be turned into a neat pile of poles which lie straight and can be placed along a fence or under shrubbery, creating invertebrate habitat, while the leafy twigs and weeds close the gaps, assisting rotting.

Waka Kotahi shared that the Auckland Harbour Bridge is now closed to both northbound and southbound traffic as of 1:10PM due to weather.
Damaging gales were predicted to blow up to 110km/h, while strong wind watches are in place for nearly the entire North Island.
MetService said the gales could cause power cuts in Northland, Auckland and Waikato, with the highest winds on westerly coastlines likely to down trees.
What you need to know:
- The Harbour Bridge is closed due to high gust winds.
- Vehicles needing to travel should detour via the Western Ring Route (SH18/SH16) at this time.

Some of what was picked up this morning on Takapuna Beach by two of us in a couple of hours. Included was a piece of plastic buffer used by the council in public car parks.
Food scraps roll out at our Library on Thursday, 18th May 10am - 12pm.

Found this Auckland Council notice printed on plastic on Takapuna Beach yesterday. Obviously been in the water some time, but finding it on the sand highlighted the irony of official attempts to control rubbish in public spaces. We each need to do our bit.
