And would like someone to give you a bit of instruction on the water?
Then, the FREE workshop on Saturday 10th October held at Coastguard Northshore on Beachfront Lane, Browns Bay, Auckland 0630 from 9am – 4pm could be a good place to start.
The morning will be interactive sessions and include a chance to look at personal and group gear such as VHF radios and Personal Locator Beacons and the chance to discuss what to do in an emergency. The afternoon will deal with planning and going on a short paddle with a skills clinic.
Bring your lunch, boat and paddling kit. If you have a query or are new or from out of town and don’t have any gear contact Shaun Maclaren on 021 2867412 or shaun@kask.co.nz and he’ll endeavour to help you out with equipment to try.

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.
Common reasons for Root Canal therapy
Any trauma or infection of the nerve will result in the need for root canal therapy. Common reasons for root canal therapy include:
Bacteria from the decayed tooth invades the pulp by penetrating through the tooth.
Trauma, such as a chipped or broken tooth, occurs and results in the exposure of the nerve.
A tooth has become abscessed — also known as infected — from decay.
A tooth is slowly dying, due to aging or previous trauma that did not result in the need for treatment at the time of injury.
Advantages of root canal treatment
There are many types of advantages of using root canal treatment.
Normal chewing without pain
Control of sensation and biting in teeth
Appearance becomes normal and natural
Health of other teeth in mouth is not adversely affected
If a teeth is infected and root canal treatment is needed then it is important to take immediate steps to make sure that the infection could be eliminated on time. Delays in treatment for root canal cases could lead to spreading of infection to other teeth and the person has to suffer from a lot of pain and loss of many teeth.
Hence it is always important to see the Dentist every 6 months and as soon as you have having pain or discomfort with any of your teeth.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) issued the recall on September 30, advising people to stop using it immediately as a user could be burnt or scalded.
What you need to know:
- Contact Biopak or ring 0800 246 725 to get a refund on faulty items.
- The products were sold from January 2013 to September 2020
- All resuable coffee cups (8oz, 12oz, 16oz) in plain green or white should be
returned to Biopak.
- Those with custom names “SexieCoffie”, “Columbit”, “Echo”, “Hedland”, “Crop to Cup” or “Home Grain”. Should be returned immediately.

I put compost in the bottom of the tub, strawberry mix in the top, mixed with sheep & chicken pellets and peat moss, dug a small hole in the middle, put a banana peel in the bottom, and then planted the blackberry plant in it (same as for the blueberries, except for the sheep & chicken pellets I used because Mitre Ten had sold out of straight sheep pellets. =P ) Snapdragons open (as in photo 3) in my garden recently, and two blooming gorgeous flowering cuttings in a vase (last three photos), that I cut off the cherry-ice-cream geraniums I had to cut away part of last week to make way for the yellow rose I bought to replace my old one that had died. 😃
