Public consultation is now open.
Locally, the proposal includes lowering the speed limit from 50kph to 30kph on Verran Road, West Glade Cres and Caram Place for Verran Primary School.
Elsewhere on the North Shore, there are proposals to lower speeds around Sunnynook Primary School, Hauraki Primary School, Mairangi Bay Primary School, Murrays Bay Primary School, Long Bay Primary School and Long Bay College.
The schools that AT have chosen are those where vehicles already effectively travel at or close to 30kph anyway. Schools where engineering (such as speed humps) would be required to lower speeds, are not included in the proposal.
All other schools will be looked at once the "Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2021" change is implemented.
Consultation is open now until Thursday 14 November.
For more information and to give feedback on the proposal, see:
at.govt.nz...
Note: This proposal is not related to the speed-reduction trials underway around Willow Park School, Glenfield Primary School and Birkdale Primary School.

You can now meet another bubble for a picnic, but please be aware of any local liquorbans!
Please remember this is still Level 3, however with the following changes:
* Your bubble can now meet one other bubble at a time outside, up to a maximum of 10 people from the two bubbles. Eg: You can invite people from another household over for dinner in your backyard, but they cannot enter your house.
* You can travel across Auckland for recreation.
* Early Learning Centres can reopen if they can handle bubbles of up to 10 children.

Vandals have allegedly poisoned and cut down dozens of native trees and shrubs of huge significance to Māori near Takapuna Beach.
Around 23 trees and shrubs at Te Uru Tapu (The Sacred Grove) at the northern end of the beach were discovered to have been vandalised during a regular inspection by Auckland Council’s senior urban forest specialist on Tuesday.
The grove of ancient pōhutukawa trees is of high significance to mana whenua, with the trees and vegetation in the area protected by the Auckland Unitary Plan.
A section of the grove has been fenced off since June 2018, due to the risk of trees falling onto a boardwalk below. It appeared someone had deliberately entered the restricted area to cut down the trees, which included karo, karaka, nīkau, tōtara and coprosmas. Drill holes were also found at the base of three mature karo trees, which suggested they had been poisoned.
None of the trees are expected to survive. Auckland Council has launched an investigation and is asking anyone with information to email sacredgrove@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz. Click 'read more' for the full story.
