Two local sisters are saving one marriage at a time with their business venture of constructing flat-pack furniture.
Jala Hooker, 9, and 8-year-old Aalia Hooker started Flatpack Girls about two months ago, following a homework task that involved coming up with a business idea.
Both Jala and Aalia said they find building flat-packs enjoyable. While they do get a little help from their dad who checks the instructions and puts weight on the power drill, they do most of the work themselves.

Customer services finally got back to me and said she could not pick up from our street because the street is too busy. Asked to speak to a manager they hung up on me. I rang back and was told they had too many managers so they would find out who I needed to complain too and this manager would ring me back. Still waiting for the overseas call centre or manager to ring me back. I was told I could deliver the parcel to there depot and they would get it delivered for me. Haha. I delivered it myself to my customer. Should have changed there fast ways name to NO WAYS. Never again.

Local groups in west Auckland are “bitterly disappointed” after resource consent was granted in relation to the replacement of a water treatment plant. They claim Auckland Council ignored expert advice on the risks for the project to spread kauri dieback disease.

Watercare had applied for resource consent to carry out earthworks and vegetation removal for the upcoming replacement of the Huia Water Treatment Plant.

Titirangi Protection Group’s (TPG) spokeswoman Belynda Groot said “it’s totally wrong” for consent to be given after abundant evidence from kauri dieback and ecology experts at the resource consent hearing in April this year advised against the build.

Kia ora koutou neighbours. Changes are coming to Auckland’s ferry services following the opening of six new piers in the city centre.

The changes, which come into effect on Monday, follow the completion of a $350 million upgrade of the downtown waterfront.

The new piers has resulted in the renumbering of those at the downtown ferry terminal, Auckland Transport (AT) has advised.

The timing of some services will be altered to accommodate the new piers, and some new services will be added.
