Buster and 99 have nested together for 24 years, and reared 19 babies in that time.
Their eldest Goofy will turn 24 this year.
Penguin keeper said Kristen Buckley said after 24 years together the pair have their nesting routine down pat.
“We are so happy to see Buster & 99 coupling up for yet another nesting season this year – as they are our longest-standing couple in the Gentoo Penguin colony,” she said.
“Year after year we see them sharing the nest building and egg incubating responsibilities like the seasoned parents they are!”
Buckley said it is crucial that penguins make sure they are with good partner.
“Unlike other birds where one parent can raise a whole clutch of eggs by themselves, both penguin parents need to work together to successfully raise their chicks,” she said.
“They can't afford to have a partner that isn't very good at catching food or finding nesting material because this means that their chicks are very unlikely to make it to adulthood.”

Mt Albert artist Jesse James created “The Bubble” to support those in need and will donate all the proceeds of the auction to the mental health charity I AM HOPE.
“We’re all living in our own little bubbles, so I feel like having these little characters inside a bottle symbolises this,” he said.
“With us being in lockdown, people’s mental health just gets way worse, and they feel like they don’t have anyone to reach out to.”
The piece is currently displayed at the Turua Gallery in St Heliers. It features Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Ashley Bloomfield delivering the 1pm press conference, encapsulated in a glass bottle.
The auction closes on September 26.

Oh jolly good we said
We can persecute the living
And celebrate the dead
We’ll talk up all the old things
And make the present bad
And look forward to a future
That no one yet has had
We’ll become experts in all matters
That once were out of our bounds
And run select secret societies
All hidden underground
We’ll mine for money whilst sleeping
And see planets beyond the moon
Whilst never leaving our armchairs
Or the comfort of our room
And when the children’s voices
Vanish from the streets
We’ll put it down to friends on Facebook
And watch their Google meets
We’ll research how to garden
And go online and buy the tools
Then contact our local handyman
Because we’re told outside is for the fools
We'll be asked by the Facebook Gods
'What is on your minds'
And answer them with integrity
and then be moderated for being unkind
Yes, the Internet has made man-kind
And for that we are forced to pay
Without the knowing of what the future holds
As for hindsight, we’ll turn that knowledge away
