Historically, car and other crime spikes from mid-July to early September and police are committed to this prevention-focused operation to address this peak period. Police will be targeting high crime areas such as carparks, shopping malls, gas stations and railway stations and known priority crime offenders.
Vehicle crime will be a particular focus for us and we know the most common types of cars targeted by thieves in this area are:
- Mazda Demio
- Subaru Legacy
- Mazda Familia
- Subaru Impreza.
Seventy per cent of vehicles that are stolen in the Auckland City District are recovered, however, the Police aim is to reduce the offending occurring in the first place. Operation Pencil will conclude on August 24, 2018.

9. A beautiful smile
Getting your teeth straightened isn’t as daunting as it sounds especially with orthodontic treatments such as invisible braces or Invisalign. These treatments allow you to have your teeth straightened without anyone knowing you’re wearing braces.
Visit our website www.bachmannorthodontics.co.nz... or call us to schedule a consultation with Drs. Lutz and Claudia Bachmann, to discuss what kind of braces will create your beautiful smile. What can we do to make you smile?
1. Better brushing
Overlapping teeth can trap food particles. Straight teeth allow for easier brushing and flossing. Your teeth will be cleaner and your smile more dazzling.
2. Clear speech
Did you know that crooked teeth cause many speech impediments? Straight teeth allow clear speech.
3. Easier eating
Crooked, crowded teeth compromise chewing which may cause digestive problems. This is another reason why orthodontists advise having your teeth straightened.
4. Less accident-prone teeth
Protruding teeth are more prone to breaking, especially for those who play sports as protective mouth guards may not fit properly.
5. Fewer headaches
Crowded teeth wear unevenly which puts pressure on a person’s jaw, often resulting in chronic headaches.
6. Improved gum health
Gum disease can be very painful as well expensive to treat. People with straight teeth have healthier gums than those with crooked teeth.
7. Better overall health
Did you know that tooth decay and gum disease are linked to heart disease and high blood sugar? Drs. Lutz and Claudia Bachmann advise getting your teeth straightened to improve your oral hygiene and reduce the risk of tooth decay.
8. Lower risk of soft tissue injury
Crooked teeth can push against soft tissues in your mouth resulting in cuts, sores and infections. Straight teeth eliminate that risk.
9. A beautiful smile
One of the biggest benefits of having straight teeth is that it boosts your confidence and makes your smile more beautiful.

Just like the weeds starting to grow again, you fungal nail infection is going to carry on behaving like a weed - growing in a place that you don't want it. Do nothing and you will have another summer of being embarrassed by your unsightly nails. Act now and you can enjoy the freedom of going barefoot on the beach.
For those of you interested in technical "stuff" attached is a white paper published 2014 in America looking at the efficacy of laser treatment of fungal nails.
