Glenfield Bowling Club Site
Today the Kaipātiki Local Board unanimously gifted the Glenfield Bowling Club building to Pest Free Kaipātiki (subject to them bringing the building up to standard) and granted them a lease over the former bowling green land at Ross Reserve (subject to a standard public consultation process that will begin soon).
The bowling club had owned the building and left it to council after the club folded.
This is a giant step towards a new permanent home for Pest Free Kaipātiki, that will help them to grow and continue their fantastic work in nurturing volunteer groups and neighbourhoods to restore our parks and natural environment.
Thankyou to all of the groups that applied for the space through the recent expressions of interest process.
Attached are the plans that Pest Free Kaipātiki presented to the Local Board as part of their application.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
