The new limit will allow up to 50 people to gather for the purposes of funerals and tangihanga, provided that strict public health measures are in place. From tomorrow, funeral directors will have to obtain dispensation from the Ministry of Health to allow up to 50 people to attend services, while having to meet a range of public health measures. Those measures will include physical distancing, hand hygiene, as well as no food and drink congregations afterwards. "Funerals are exceptional events and have been one of the most difficult areas of restriction that we've considered as we try to avoid the double tragedy of losing a loved one and spreading the virus," Dr Clark said. "The strength of our response to this virus has been in our agility to respond and we have listened to the concerns of the 10-person limit for funerals and moved on that - while emphasising they still pose a significant risk in setting us back. "We can all be rightly proud of the progress we've made in tackling the virus over the past seven weeks and we need to maintain this unity to keep us on track. "I'm pleased that we have found a workable solution that that keeps people safe, while at the same time allowing more people to gather and grieve together."

The Government has announced that New Zealand will be moving to Alert Level 2 on Thursday 14 May 2020.
This means public transport timetables have returned to normal for buses, trains and most ferries. The Ministry of Health wants passengers to still maintain physical distancing so we will need to limit the number of people who can board each bus, train, or ferry. This will reduce the number of passengers on each service. To make up for reduced capacity, we’ve called in some reinforcements; you might find yourself travelling on a bus normally used by sightseers or tourists. These extra buses will help get everyone where they need to be, quickly and safely.
When you’re on board, follow the signs showing where you can sit, and please avoid sitting next to someone you don’t know.
Registered HOP cards only

Under Alert Level 2, regular fares apply. Please note that bus drivers won’t accept cash. Instead, you’ll need to use a registered AT HOP card to tag on and off. You need to make sure your AT HOP card is registered - this makes contact tracing easy if needed.
Cleaning our fleet

The safety of our customers and workers is a priority, so we’re making sure all public transport is cleaned regularly. We’ve also stepped up our regime to include spot checks and antimicrobial cleaning. You’ll find hand sanitiser stations at many locations, and we encourage you to use them.
When travelling on buses
====================
• Cash payments for fares will not be accepted. You must use an AT HOP card.
• Use the rear door to get on and off buses.
• Tag on and off using the AT HOP card reader inside the rear door.
• If you use a wheelchair or mobility device, are vision-impaired or require driver assistance, you can still get on and off using the front door.
• Each bus will have a sign showing the number of passengers it can carry.
School buses
===========
AT school bus services will operate during Alert Level 2. Following the Government’s guidelines, physical distancing measures will be different from our public transport services but standing on buses will not be permitted. Working closely with the schools, AT have several measures to support contact tracing for students. Hand sanitiser will be made available for students boarding and departing the bus, in addition to the bus being cleaned in accordance with Government guidance. We recommend that parents wait with their child(ren) at the bus stop until they can see if the bus has enough room for their child(ren).

In the current period of uncertainty, we appreciate that many Aucklanders are facing financial hardship. The following information outlines some of the financial assistance measures that are available to help ratepayers.
Deferment of rates payment without penalties

Under normal circumstances if your recent rates invoice was not paid in full by 28 May 2020 a penalty payment would be applied to any outstanding balance. However, if you are experiencing financial difficulties, contact the council to arrange payment by smaller installments, or defer payment of the full amount, until 31 August 2020 without attracting penalties. All registered ratepayers who require financial assistance and support at this time may apply. Here are some examples of how you can demonstrate that you are experiencing financial hardship:
Business ratepayers

In receipt of government wage subsidy
In receipt of government-guaranteed business loan
Tax payments deferred by IRD
Residential ratepayers

Is a participant of the mortgage repayment holiday scheme
Has lost their job or had a substantial reduction in income

You will need your name, full address of the property for which you are applying and your rates assessment number.
You will not need to upload evidence of your financial hardship in order to apply, but we may request this from you at a later date.
If you pay your rates by direct debit, you can apply to suspend your payments until 31 August 2020.

Rates postponement policy

The council has a rates remission and postponement policy allowing residential ratepayers who meet certain criteria to postpone payment of their rates until a specified event such as the sale of their property. Detail on eligibility and conditions available in this document.

Rates relief of up to $640 is available for those on incomes below a specified level through the government’s rates rebates scheme. Go here for details of eligibility and conditions.
Accommodation Supplement

The Accommodation Supplement is the Government’s primary assistance for accommodation costs, including for homeowners seeking help with their rates payments. People do not need to receive a main benefit to be eligible for the accommodation supplement. Combined with physical distancing, this means things are a little slower right now and it is taking longer to get your parcels to you. Most of our parcels are being delivered within two to three working days but in some cases, we are seeing delays of up to five working days (and a little longer with some international parcels). While we’ll continue to pull out all the stops to get your parcels to you as quickly as possible, we expect this volume to continue over the coming weeks, so there will be ongoing delays. We know that the parcels you’re waiting for are important to you. Our expanded contact centre teams are working overtime and doing everything they can to answer your queries as quickly as possible. Please help us out by checking our FAQs first if you have any questions and only call us if your parcel has been delayed longer than five working days. Rest assured that while there may be a delay, we will get your parcel to you as soon as we possibly can.
