People are encouraged to view… View moreTomorrow, we celebrate Matariki, a time for remembrance, celebrating the present and looking to the future. The theme for 2024 is 'Matariki heri kai' and comes from the Māori proverb ‘Matariki whetū heri kai’ meaning ‘Matariki, the bringer of food’. People are encouraged to view Matariki as a time to journey home, spend time with whānau and friends, and enjoy feasting on fresh, locally sourced produce.
The weather is expected to be clear tomorrow morning if you'd like to view the rising of the Matariki star cluster. Matariki (also known as Pleiades), will be visible in the eastern skies just before sunrise. Find the constellation of Orion and the three stars of Orion’s belt (also known as Tautoru), then look left towards the bright red star of Taumatakuku (also known as Aldebaran). Matariki will be just a little further to the left, past Jupiter. The best time for viewing Matariki will be between 5.30-6.45am.

Myself and a couple of others currently deliver almost 30 kits per fortnight. However, we need more people to help. Areas we deliver to: Glendowie, Meadowbank, Mt Wellington, Howick, Flat Bush, Ormiston, Papatoetoe & Māngere.
You would only be doing one or two areas and a couple of hours each time and it depends on the bookings for that fortnight.
Days: Thursday and/or Friday each fortnight during term time
Hours: school hours and variable
Must have own large vehicle and be able to lift kits weighing up to 24kg.
Mileage will be reimbursed.

join a small team to help process the kits that have been returned from our member schools. This involves checking the equipment in the kit (cleaning if necessary) and restocking the consumables. Must have a reasonable command of written English.
We operate on a fortnightly loan system and require help every second Friday from 10 am during the school terms.
I do require volunteers on Friday 5th July, or else it will be from Friday 2nd August.
