Strong People URGENTLY needed To Move Water Trashed Items in Milford

Eden from Milford

Hi all

I don’t really come on here, so I hope I do everything right, if not my apologies.

I am one of the people whose home was given the wrecking ball of water on Aucklands wet & wild Friday night.

My address is 3/38 Nile Road Milford Auckland 0620

I don’t have a mobile

My home phone is swimming out to sea aiming for the Gold Coast & a happier dryer life!

My email is violetskye19@gmail.com

I was given a yellow sticker earlier this week, as were the other people in my units. We have a 6 unit complex and we are all guttered, water came from all directions, up through the floor, I could see my footprints while I was trying to get what I needed to grab then escape. It was obviously coming from the roof & through the sides as being low(ish) level units they effectively became ‘swimming castles’

By the time I saw what was happening to my actual getting out the water was up to my shoulders and in places I was pretty much swimming. I still can’t believe how fast it all happened and I now understand how easy it is to get trapped and die or be swept away. We are on land right on Wairau creek & I think something had to of burst for it to get so bad so fast.

Myself & the other owners have been running through the quagmire (pun fully intended) of what we have to do, it seems never ending, kind of like my possessions pretty much running a very wet race to the skips for dumping.

THAT
Is what my message is about, we’ve already had one skip filled and dumped (by one group of tenants who offered no help to anyone else.

*******IMPORTANT *******

We have more skips, one arriving on Tuesday, time unknown like all things of that type are to be expected for a lot of different variables. We also have another skip on hold so once the other skips able to be cleared off the next will be delivered ASAP, but again times are variable.

WHAT WE DO NOT HAVE IS ANYONE TO DUMP BELONGINGS INTO THEM.

A lot if works been done already & most of the larger items are outside on the lawn and concrete areas except I believe for mine which are still inside, I’m disabled so I can’t do it myself nor have anyone to help other than my Mother whose done an amazing job, but she’s 75 and she’s already trying to take on too much.

WHAT WE NEED URGENTLY IS STRONG PEOPLE WHO ARE ABLE TO MOVE EVERYTHING INTO THE SKIPS.

We would all be very grateful & appreciative for any help anyone is able to offer. It’s obviously a very tight time problem, so if people could call and talk/offer help would be the best way.

As I can’t hear, I’m giving my Mothers phone numbers, she’s pretty much taking care of everything so it’s best to talk to her anyway. As there’s a very big time time constraints this is really urgent!

She’s in Warkworth so the 09 needs to be used.

Her numbers are
Mobile - 021 05 333 169
Home - 09 4222 523

Again thank you, even if you’re just taking the time to read this (book!) we’re still thankful.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?
