Northcote Wharf Upgrade Underway

John Gillon from John Gillon - Kaipatiki Local Board

On Thursday morning I was privileged to attend the whakatau and blessing by Mana Whenua to mark the beginning of the Northcote Wharf renewal project.
Work will now get underway on repairing and upgrading the wharf, with it expected to be completed by the end of the year (weather dependent).
During the construction, material for the new wharf will be stored at Birkenhead Wharf and barged across to Northcote Point.
This brings to a close the very long advocacy from elected members for the Northcote Wharf to be upgraded and reopened.
Thankyou to everyone who has been involved with progressing the project to this point.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?
