ShieldsUp is a volunteer driven initiative of over 500 Kiwis, 3D printing, manufacturing and distributing face shields to our medical and emergency heroes across the country facing Covid-19 head on.

Within two weeks, we have delivered over 5,000 face shields, but we are still hearing the calls of many. As the government and DHB’s publicly assure us that all necessary equipment is readily accessible, the demand for our face shields continues to grow daily, with requests for 30,000 shields.

If you would like to help us help them, sign up to volunteer at shieldsup.org.nz, or make a donation to ensure we can continue to produce and distribute our shields to protect our frontline heroes.

Northern Pathway - Westhaven to Akoranga Drive

John Gillon from John Gillon - Kaipatiki Local Board

A new design for the Westhaven to Akoranga Drive portion of the Northern Pathway (formally SkyPath and SeaPath) is now open for public feedback until Sunday 19 April. Due to the COVID-19 situation, NZTA are not holding any public sessions and instead all feedback is being collected online.
www.nzta.govt.nz...

Significant changes since the previous proposed design include:
* The connection at Princes Street (under the Harbour Bridge) has changed and it is now proposed that several houses and one pohutukawa tree are to be removed.
* The connection at Sulphur Beach Reserve has changed. There will be a connection into the carpark, but the route will no longer go through the carpark and under the motorway.
* A new bridge over the motorway is proposed to reach Stafford Park, avoiding the Northcote Point motorway off-ramp. The Tennyson Street underpass will also be upgraded.
* New bridges and underpasses are proposed to avoid the Onewa Rd off- and on-ramps, with a new spur to connect to the bottom of Onewa Road & Onepoto Domain.
* A new crossing at Akoranga Drive.

The online feedback form and further information can be found here:

Unfortunately over the last few days, Council has had to temporarily close a number of bush tracks in our area that contain kauri trees. I'm not sure of the exact tracks that have been closed, but the following parks are affected:
* Eskdale Reserve Network (including Birkenhead Domain)
* Kauri Glen Reserve/Cecil Eady Reserve
* Chelsea Estate Heritage Park
* Birkenhead War Memorial Park.
I've requested maps showing exactly which tracks have been closed and will make those public once I receive them.
It is really bad timing with everyone out for daily walks, however it was a necessary decision to protect kauri trees from dieback disease. Under Alert Level 4, no-one is allowed to fill the spray bottles for cleaning shoes, and no-one should be using tracks near kauri if they haven't sprayed their shoes, therefore the tracks have been temporarily closed. Tracks that have already had in-ground cleaning stations installed remain open.
I've heard that some of the tracks that have been closed do not contain kauri, which may be an error and I'm following up on those.

Just posting again as I don't know if I did it the right way at the first time.

Kia Ora Neighbours,

I would like to offer a FREE help/assessment/consultation/chat for those who can’t figure out how to implement an “work from home” situation/enviroument.

If you are an IT person you probably know what to do and how to do or if the company you work for already have a solution you are ok.

But if you are not a "tech person" and you have no clue what to do and/or how to even start, then ask for help, it will be a pleasure.

There are many options/solutions available for a home office and one of them would suit your needs.

As an ICT consultant I’m more than happy to help you to find one. On a quick chat we can cover the following optios if not all of them:

- Local Network (cable)
- Wireless Enviroument and Coverage
- Internet (itself)
- Telephony (land line or VoIP)
- Cloud, why and when?
- Security
- Hardwares ( Printers, Routers, Switches)
- Etc etc etc

Feel free to pm me, Get in touch, let’s get through it together.

Keep safe!

We know some of you are facing threatening and potentially harmful times at home right now. Police will be there for you if you call us.

If you are in immediate danger and can’t call 111, leave your house and get out of harm’s way. Get to a safe distance and then ask a neighbour over a fence, or a passer-by, to call 111 for you. Your safety comes first.

It’s everybody’s responsibility to speak out and keep each other safe right now. If you think something is not ok with a friend, neighbour, or colleague, it’s okay to call Police on their behalf. The person you’re worried about may not be able to speak up for themselves. You could be saving a life.
