'One of a kind' Auckland teacher dies shortly after cancer diagnosis

Kirsten Meleisea, a teacher at The Gardens School in Manurewa, has died less than five months after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

She had been at the school since 2012 and deputy principal Kate Gifford said she would leave "an incredible legacy, but a massive hole."

Kirsten Meleisea, a teacher at The Gardens School in Manurewa, has died less than five months after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

She had been at the school since 2012 and deputy principal Kate Gifford said she would leave "an incredible legacy, but a massive hole."

She was "truly one of a kind," Gifford said, "the kind of person who inspires people just by being herself".
