Should the proposed marina on Waiheke Island get the green light?
Construction on Waiheke Island's Kennedy Point marina is to continue after an out of court settlement was made between campaigners and developers.
Four years of court proceedings have been withdrawn by Save Kennedy Point (SKP), after Kennedy Point Boatharbour Limited said they would put the welfare of a little blue penguin colony front of mind.
As part of the settlement, the developers have agreed to forgo all recent costs orders made against SKP and to not seek further costs from them.
SKP was facing bills of almost $250,000 sought by the developers and Auckland Council.
In more recent developments, the group has announced they will hฤซkoi to Parliament to deliver a petition asking Environment Minister David Parker take the case back to the Environment Court.
The petition, which already has 8500 signatures, was started by Uri o Ngฤri Pฤoa, who are occupying the beach at Kennedy Point.
What do you think about the proposal? Share your comments below and don't forget to type NFP if you don't want them featured in your local community paper.

A new bridge costing $685 million is to be built for walkers and cyclists crossing Aucklandโs Waitematฤ Harbour.
It is hoped construction can begin mid-2022, in a plan unveiled just five days after cycling lobbyists broke through a police barrier and rode over the existing Harbour Bridge, demanding action.
Transport Minister Michael Wood said once begun, the new structure is expected to take five years to complete, and work will continue on interim use of existing harbour bridge lanes for cycling and walking.
โA stand-alone structure is the safest option that will not only provide a walking and cycling option for commuters but creates an outstanding piece of tourism infrastructure,โ said Wood.

Having worked in Aged Care for several years, Suzetteโs favourite thing about her work has remained the same โ giving back to those whoโve done so much for Aotearoa.
โOur residents have a lifetime of knowledge and have worked hard in often difficult times. I see it as such a privilege to be in a position to lead a team of people who are passionate about caring for them.โ
Suzetteโs recipe for great care is simple. โGreat care means meeting a residentโs daily needs with empathy and warmth โ to deliver the kind of care that anyone would want their Mum or Dad to have.โ
Sheโs excited to take on a new challenge in our vibrant village beside Orakei Basin. โMeadowbank is a beautiful siteโ itโs a place anyone would feel proud to live in and a place families enjoy visiting.
Our Care Suites provide a feeling of independence within the comfort and security of exceptional 24/7, round-the-clock care.โ And her vision for Meadowbank goes beyond brick and mortar.
โThe heart of it is the people โ staff who provide empathy and love, and residents who live their years to the fullest.โ
