It's nestled amongst an impressive selection of fruit trees, including peach, guava, feijoa, plum, apple and lemon trees to name but a few. The heady, sweet aroma fills the air and makes you feel that all is well with the world, proving you don't need to leave the city to find an oasis.

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service has warned swimmers to watch out for jellyfish blooms on Auckland beaches.

Jellyfish stings and rashes can spoil your swim at Auckland beaches, especially as the water gets warmer, the service says.

They can be caused by a range of sea life, some of which are too small to see.

These include jellyfish, anemones and sea lice along with the more obvious crabs, stingrays and sharks.

Bluebottle jellyfish produce a nasty sting and people should stay out of the water if they see them.

Go to the Ministry of Health website or phone Healthline on 0800 611 116 for information.

Have you been affected by a jellyfish bloom this summer?

Feel free to email caryn.wilkinson@stuff.co.nz if you have.

Please put NFP if you do not want your comments used by Stuff.
