Ongaonga has been linked to unexplained deaths of people walking through a dense patch and being overcome. With this mind, I decided to have a go cutting back a particularly annoying patch on our main track to the paddock we call, Waterses.

The Ongaonga bushes were above and below the track so I had to form a strategy so that I would safe. I found a large set of old tree branch loppers (giant secateurs) in the shed and then opted to take a piece of cloth, that used to cover our cool display cabinet in my old café.

It was interesting to listen to Professor Scott Duncan on The Project on Tuesday 1 February 2022. He discussed his latest research on children's development and one comment in particular interested me. "Dropping the ball".
Scott's research followed children at 2 years and again at 4.5 years. Lack of ball skills was just one factor the team noted. The teachers at Uplands Kindergarten build ball skills into our daily play at Uplands. We see this as a valuable skill for children to achieve - something Professor Duncan no doubt agrees with.

It's been seen hovering around the neighbourhood maybe half a dozen times since the start of the year and at low levels, often only 10-15m above the street. At that sort of height, it can only be looking into properties. It's generally been around in the mid-afternoon period.

If you know whose it is and a quiet word would sort it out, those of us who live in Godfrey Place would appreciate it. Failing that, it will be taken further because it's difficult to imagine what legitimate purpose it can be serving.

I understand the sentiment behind these creations and I have seen many in Dingle Dell Reserve and St John's Bush ... do we really need to introduce more plastic rubbish in our last remaining urban bush reserves?
They're often colourful small pieces which will easily be mistaken for berries by our birds. Please be responsible and also remove them when they're not maintained anymore and fall apart in the elements.
