I have lived in Hauraki for about 3 years and I do love this area to raise my babies. There is a beautiful park at the corner of Sydney street and Jutland Road. There is a sandpit, little hill with the slides and swings and a tract. Additionally people kindly donated the walkers, scooters, cars and sandpit toys.
I love this place as my boy can safely play with the neighborhood kids.
Anyone can see this is for little babies and toddlers not for teenagers.
However I have witness that many primary students as well as teenagers visited screaming, drinking and doing my experimental things causing vast damage.
For example,
a teenager was dropping the scooters or tricycles one after the other. His father was encouraging him to do things with the other things. -Please if you want to do these things do it with your own ones at home. There are many toys that are broken and can cause an accident.
A group of Japanese primary school boys were screaming and running frantically in between toddlers. They even flipped over the picnic bench and did rocking it. Needless to say one of them run into me while I was holding my two month old son. Their mums were busy chatting and did not care.
They also shook the thin trees. They are still busy chatting.I could not believe that Japanese can also let their children to shout in a public place.
The problem was my toddler immediately copied all of these.
One teenager seriously who seemed about 15 was riding a toddler's bike. That teenager's mum brought the dog and trained her dog on the balancing bar standing next to the dog banned sign. Even if she was not a kiwi she could spot it and understand. But she decided to ignore.
I would like to teach and show my toddler how to respect the facilities in our community. Everyday I do consider to come to this beautiful place due to these(Although my boy loves to come here), as I can see more and more people do not care about our communal place.
Can we look after our own children and guide them have a nice manner while they are playing in the park? Isn't there a better place for teenagers and older children? If they are the younger one's siblings who need to come along, can we please be mindful to be around delicate babies and toddlers?
Is it only me who thinks in this way? I myself am Korean but did think kiwi are very delightful to be around with good manner. Don't we use this park in order to get along with others, otherwise you can use your own garden.
What else we can do to make the situation better? Shall we share this and maybe talk to people in a peaceful manner rather than ignoring?
Anyone can suggest good idea?
