Hello,

Nigel Latta is hosting his new parenting talk for one night only on Wednesday 17th October at Westlake Boys High School from 7.30pm-9.30pm.

Happy, healthy, confident children is something all parents want… but getting there is sometimes a bit challenging. While we might be the same humans we’ve always been for the last hundred thousand years or so, the world itself has changed incredibly, and those changes are only going to speed up over the coming years. So how do we prepare our kids for living a good life in the modern age? In this entertaining, challenging, and thought provoking presentation Nigel will share insights gained over a career that spans over twenty years and has taken him all over the world in search of answers to all kinds of questions. He’ll cover everything from the parenting basics, to helping your kids plan for the future, and dealing with big issues like stress, anxiety, and depression. This is an evening full of real world solutions, for real world problems.

*Suitable for all ages… although there may be a wee bit of swearing

Tickets: $25 | www.kenziesgift.com...

All proceeds to children's charity, Kenzie's Gift, supporting children and young people through serious illness or bereavement.

The supermarket's move is expected to remove 11.6 million straws from circulation and the waste stream each year. WOW.

Do you think other NZ supermarkets should follow suit?

If the warranty has ended, it doesn't mean your rights have!

A warranty is extra to the protections in the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) and can’t override or replace these. This means a retailer can't just say you're out of luck because the warranty period has ended.

The CGA says that products have to be of an acceptable quality which means they must be fit for purpose (or do what they're made to do), last for a reasonable amount of time, be safe, and be free from any minor defects. What is “acceptable quality” is based on what you could reasonably expect taking into account things like the nature of the goods, what you paid for them, and any particular statements made about the goods.

If you have a problem with something you’ve bought and the warranty period has ended, you might still be entitled to have it repaired or replaced. Check out our information on your rights as a consumer or phone CAB on 0800 367 222.

Hello! We are a small team of house-sitters who are here to provide you with the peace of mind that your pets and property maintain well looked after while you are away.

We are made up of one couple and one best friend, ages 24-28. We find it works great as a trio when bookings overlap or when more than one house needs our services. On occasion we may all be present in one house together but are very utility conscious and respectful in our usage. We are all non-smokers and non-partiers. We all believe in keeping fit and enjoy the outdoors so your animals can remain well exercised if needed so. We can ensure you that your home remains neat and tidy for the entire duration of our stay. Our past sits have included looking after pets, cars, plants, and even just the property.

Who we are:

Carl, 28. Full time builder, great handyman, Olympic sailor, outdoor enthusiast

Desiree, 24. Full time educator 4d/w, adores pets, lover of the outdoors, enjoys long walks

Bianca, 25. Full time shift work receptionist, great with pets, loves long walks and the beach

Our service:
We provide our services FREE of charge as we believe it is a fair exchange for accommodation. Please feel free to message me with enquires and we will be happy to talk further. We are happy to provide police clearances and references for your extra peace of mind. All the best and we look forward to hearing from you!

Hi neighbours,

Is the solution to Auckland's traffic problem in our pockets? Our National Correspondent has been investigating how the movements of your smartphone are being tracked, collected and sold to government agencies. To read more about this, click here.

The location data Google and Spark collect from our smartphones is being studied to try and solve Auckland's biggest transport problems.

For example, some data is being used to help monitor the performance of new state highway infrastructure or upgrades, including measuring travel times through the Waterview Tunnel.

What are your thoughts on this? Were you aware of it? Do you think a solution to your city's roads can be found in the data? Let us know in the replies!
