“Don’t be scared of the bowel screening test – do it for the sake of your family” is the message from respected iwi and community leader Dame Naida Glavish.

Around 100 New Zealanders die from bowel cancer each month, but regular bowel screening every two years can help find cancer early when it can usually be successfully treated.

Dame Naida has done the test herself and says it’s clean and simple to do. You should have been sent a test kit if you live in the Waitemata DHB area, and are; aged 60 to 74, under 60 and were invited onto the bowel screening pilot.

If you think you are eligible and have not been sent a bowel screening test please call 0800 924 432 or visit our website
