Customers with Access transaction accounts, which were phased out late last year, did not receive the correct discount on fees, it said. Westpac wrote to customers last week to apologise for its mistake, which resulted in them being charged more than they should have. The bank said it had identified a discrepancy in the way the fee waiver was calculated and applied. The refunds, plus interest, would be automatically credited to customer accounts over the next week.

You should urgently ensure they have no valuables or jewellery in their possession.
On recent visit there I was shocked to discover my 93 year mother’s wedding ring was removed from her finger and she had a significant cut to her lip and bruise on her leg.
We had not previously removed the ring as it was very tight on her finger and we were afraid of causing injury.
She was incapable of removing the ring herself.
There has been no explanation for the injuries.
This has been reported to the resthome and to the police.

All New Zealand police officers will receive new stab- and bullet-proof vests in a $20 million roll-out over the next three-and-a-half years.
The current vests - which were introduced in 2006 - are stab-proof, but special vests are worn by any officers involved in firearms call-outs.
They have passed their warranty, but remain "safe and fit for purpose", says Police Commissioner Mike Bush.
What do you think about the new armour? Are police officers safe using the current vests? Are you surprised the existing vests aren't stab- and bullet-proof?

Key benefits we will be looking for include removing tariffs and other barriers that restrict the flow of goods and services between our countries, and closer cooperation on progressive trade issues, including environmental protection.
