Hey everyone, here is a link to the Tomorrows' Schools Review Report Feedback Survey. Please please please ...... fill in and submit to this so our education system can have the necessary changes to make it more equitable for all children.

consultation.education.govt.nz...

I am attaching below a link to the full report and the report summary and personally believe that while the recommendations in the report for Disability and Learning Support are good they aren’t sufficient to safeguard our children’s right to quality and equitable education. There needs to be legislative changes added to ensure children with disabilities, special needs, neurodiversity have their rights to education upheld.

Currently these children and families are often turned down enrolment by schools, discouraged to join their local schools, stood down unfairly for behaviour related to their disability, refused appropriate supports and often excluded from schools that do not have inclusive attitudes and appropriate resources to support them.

We need to ensure we voice up against the opposition being stated in the media by principals from high decile schools who do not wish to see the proposed changes put through. The majority of the public for whom the education system works just fine, need to know that it is completely broken for the 30% who cannot access quality education and appropriate resources to learn and reach their true potential.

While the TSR Report has some good suggestions to move the education system towards equity, it sadly lacks the legislative frameworks necessary to uphold our children's human rights, including education. I believe this is something we must ask for. So please share with family and friends and request them to submit the survey and ask for better legislation to uphold our children's rights.

Report Summary with proposed changes:
