Police were called to the address after reports of a family harm incident late on Monday night - the man was arrested over a different matter. When officers tried to put the man in the car, he lashed out and began trying to hit and kick them while claiming he had tested positive for coronavirus. He is then alleged to have spat at the three police officers multiple times. All three officers have been isolated and two police cars are being decontaminated, a police spokesperson told. The alleged offender is being tested for the virus. If his test returns positive and he has infected the officers, he could face serious jail time. The penalty for knowingly infecting someone with disease is 14 years imprisonment. Superintendent Naila Hassan, Waitematā District Commander, said the incident was "appalling". "We take this matter extremely seriously and we will not tolerate anyone who thinks it's acceptable to spit at our staff," she said.
The man has been charged with offences including assaults with intent to injure and resisting police, and was scheduled to appear in the Waitakere District Court on Tuesday.

An Inland Revenue spokeswoman confirmed to the Herald "around 240,000" letters were sent, and they were investigating how it came about. "Essentially, the letters shouldn't have gone and we're sorry for any distress caused," she said. On social media, Inland Revenue posted an explanation, saying no payments had been cancelled, and an apology for the confusion caused. "If you have received a notice implying that your Working for Families entitlements will cease as of 1 April 2020, please ignore it. "You can refer to your most recent Notice of Entitlement which includes the amount that you will continue to be paid. "Apologies for any confusion this may have caused." The post has drawn hundreds of comments, many upset at the stress caused and the timing with the Covid-19 lockdown. "What a stressful time to stuff up," commented one person. "I freaked out thinking we were going to be homeless because we now rely on this money now because of this Covid-19 and how it has affected hubbies work. "I just hope you send another letter to everyone because not everyone will have Facebook and see this."

I am an essential services worker for last 3 days on my way to work n way back I was observing that we need to change our habits.
Life has changed quite a lot since last couple of months as Covid 19 originated.
We are feeling it for the last 3 days. Most of the people who are following the rules laid by government is a big achievement for all of us. These rules are for us n for our safety.
As a part of community worry for me n for you in coming days will be those people who are ignorant of the devastating effects of the virus n jumping around thinking they are immune. Sorry guys, noone is. It's just a matter of time.
I request these people not to stay outside or get in contact with other people outside their BUBBLE.
Just for a few weeks we have to do this...if we don't want to do it for too long.
If people who are healthy won't go for a walk or for bike ride, I don't think so it will harm them for couple of weeks. Possibly you can do some excercises at home..spend time with other family members.
I have seen kids playing outside touching so many things....can you think what this can lead to??
Suppose someone who was infected with this virus n have coughed or sneezed or touched those railings, n those innocent kids will get the virus if they are going to touch it. Just because of stupid parenting...this will then infect the whole family. n that's how it spread.
Scientists are still unsure how long this virus stays alive on different surfaces. Just for this reason, stay at home for some weeks so at least we all will break the chain. As this virus spreads quick and fast.
This will give a chance to the virus to die as it won't get in contact with anyone else.
We can do certain things:
*Only designate one person to go out to buy groceries.
*Give chance n space to people who need to walk outside due to health issues like diabetic;
*Stay local - meaning in your drive way or max in your street if it's to walk when;
*use all possible hygiene methods for yourself and in your home;
*obey the rules.
May be we don't know each other but we still need everyone...think practically..emotionally any which way you want.
n See the Big picture...We have to do it for our kids, our family, our community, our country n our world.
Please 🙏🙏🙏🙏.....please stay at home...stay safe..
We are in this together. we will fight it together.
God bless.

"This thing (coronavirus) is an invisible dragon. Please, stay home. Let's break the chain and save lives. If we follow the rules, we'll end this lockdown sooner. Let's slay this dragon, and get back to doing the things we love, like eating pies."

Just before the country went into lockdown at 11.59pm on Wednesday, a five-bedroom home in Auckland's West Harbour was listed on Trade Me for just $1 a week.
Owner Angela Olsen said she just wanted to do her part to help stranded families during the next four weeks and would do it for free.
What do you think of this? Do you believe other landlords would be in a position to do this too?

It is currently $17.70 an hour, which would mean an extra $48 a week for Kiwis working full-time.
